Italian Property - one of Italy's largest, independently operated property sales and restoration agencies - is expanding its network to cover Liguria, the country's northwest region. The agency will offer top-of-the-range real estate in the region, known as the ‘Italian Riviera’, from chic apartments in hotspots such as San Remo to luxurious properties in picturesque Portofino.
Kevin Park, marketing and development director, says: “The lifestyle and living is easy in Liguria – and not just in summertime. The warmest of the northern regions of Italy, its steeply terraced hillsides are covered with olive groves and form the backdrop to long sandy beaches. But the province is also bordered by the Alps and the Apennines – both just a short drive away – making it a sought-after ‘sea and ski’ location. Buyers benefit from the summer and winter seasons, either for personal use or rental potential.”
Italy has been crowned the most popular country for Brits looking to invest in overseas property in 2008, according to research by theMoveChannel.com. Furthermore, its fiscal system is suited to financial rewards for investors: Italy has no inheritance tax if property is left to a close relation, and capital gains tax expires after five years.
On the Riviera, a stretch of coast peppered with large, lavish villas owned by the likes of prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, and fashion designers, Dolce and Gabbana, Italian Property will be providing exclusive high-end properties for investors looking for ‘la dolce vita’.
Properties will be available in San Remo, close to the French border, with Nice airport a mere 45 minutes by car or train. Famous for its flower markets and music festival, the area attracts both refined retirees and well-heeled young professionals, with apartments starting at €300,000 and villas fetching up to €2 million.
The agency’s expansion will also open up access to properties in Portofino - considered to be among the most beautiful Mediterranean ports and the jewel in the Italian Riviera’s crown. Buyers can share a slice of the Portofino high life that seduced Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo and Ernest Hemingway.
And, for buyers looking to bring a derelict building back to its former glory, Italian Property’s expertise in managing highly complex restoration projects sets it apart from other real estate agents. It has a large historical villa ripe for renovation available in Portofino.
Jason Jones, managing director, says: “With over 20-years experience and an intimate knowledge of the country’s property market, Italian Property has a wide-ranging portfolio of properties, from traditional townhouses to medieval monasteries.
“We work closely with a network of consultants to offer clients a complete ‘key-in-hand’ service - from their initial enquiry through to the first day of occupancy. Now, with our network increasing to include Liguria, we can offer that same local knowledge and level of service to property investors with their sights set on this stunning region.”
